What is a coat and a jacket?
A jacket is hip-length or shorter, lighter weight, and more casual, compared to a coat which is hip-length or longer, heavier weight, and more formal. There is no concrete classification system, so sometimes a garment described as a 'coat' can have characteristics of a 'jacket', and vice versa
What is called coat?
coat. noun. a piece of clothing with long sleeves that you wear over your other clothes when you go outside. A short coat is also called a jacket and a long coat is also called an overcoat.
What is called jacket?
a garment for the upper body usually having a front opening, collar, lapels, sleeves, and pockets. something worn or fastened around the body but not for use as clothing.
